History of Horror: A Binge-Worthy Show for All Horror Fans

I just recently got a Shudder subscription to see if it’s worth the price. The jury’s still out on the overall content. They have some good horror movies, they have A LOT of horror movies in general and some interesting “Shudder Originals.” The aesthetic design of the app is pretty effective and spooky, which is a definite plus.

Shudder has an impressive number of horror movies, so if you’re looking to go off the beaten path, it’s a cool subscription to check out. There is one thing on Shudder that I’ve watched that I would say makes the subscription worth it, even if it’s the only thing you watch.

Eli Roth’s History of Horror.

It’s a TV show currently including 2 seasons. Each episode focuses on a particular horror theme and goes through the various movies that best represent that theme.

Eli Roth sits down with lots of different guests and creators that are involved in the world of horror, many of whom you’ll probably recognize. Some famous guests include Stephen King, Rob Zombie, and Linda Blair.

They discuss the way certain movies influence the genre and the effect they had on the future of horror. You’ll learn interesting details about the experiences of the directors, actors, and writers as they worked to bring their horrific vision to life.

I loved learning about the connections between different types of films and the films that the guests felt were genre-defining. I also liked being introduced to some movies I have yet to watch.

Love horror movies or know someone who does? Check out this book!

It feels a little like taking a class on horror movies from some of the genre’s biggest names. Which makes sense, hence the name. It’s a great TV Show for anyone that loves horror movies.

I watched the show through Shudder, but you can also see it on AMC, or on other video platforms like Youtube (with purchase) or Amazon.
